The Kempston East Wesley Guild meets twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 2.30pm between September and the end of May in the New School Hall at Kempston East (entrance in Foster Road).
All are most welcome to join the group. The Wesley Guild was initially established by the Methodist Church over 100 years ago. Its membership has embraced a wide age group drawn from various denominations. Our guild was formed on 17th September 1925. The young and old members of the Guild here in Kempston meet weekly, where we all enjoy fellowship, not only between ourselves but with the many guest speakers and performers.

"And I will give them one heart, and one way...”

- Jeremiah 32:39

'One Heart, One Way'

The origin of the Guild motto 'One Heart, One Way', goes back to the Guild's Founders Manual, written by the Reverend W.B.Fitzgerald in 1903, where he writes that our motto is a translation of that used by the Earl of Exeter - 'Cor Unum, Via Una', and after the motto had been adopted he brought attention to the fact that these words occur in Jeremiah, chapter 32:
"They shall be my people, and I will be their God: and I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them and their children after them: And I will make everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good: but will put fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me."  (Jeremiah, Chapter 32, verses 38 - 40, King James Version)

There is no membership fee, but a small collection is taken each week, the money from which goes to pay for guest speakers, their charities or other worth while charities throughout the world.  Our meetings last about an hour with an added 30 minutes or so for a cup of tea, biscuit and chat. All are welcome.
